THIS celebrates its 38th anniversary
April 2018 marks the year that Thetford Home Improvement Services turns 38. Founded in 1980 THIS has been a presence in the Thetford and across East Anglia for nearly 4 decades, with tens of thousands of happy customers. From humble beginnings we have grown to provide the best quality home improvement products and service in the region. Our long-standing relationship with our customers has led to many of them coming back to us time and time again for new products and upgrades, it is these relationships which shape the very foundations of Thetford Home Improvement Services.
Founded by Frank Huson in 1980 Thetford Home Improvement Services provides high quality upvc windows, doors, conservatories and much more to customers across Norfolk and Suffolk. Frank started out as a carpenter, joiner and the skills, attention to detail and precision workmanship he learned from his trade has shaped THIS and the way that we work, Frank runs a tight ship and is still very much at the helm 38 years later. Making time for all his staff and customers, he’s a real inspiration to the whole business.
Over the past 38 years our product offering has evolved with the times, as have our core products, even our standard double glazed windows have advanced to a point where today’s window performs and looks a lot better than they did when we started 38 years ago, the energy efficiency of our windows has increased dramatically too based on today’s energy ratings we use a-rated windows as standard. Today we can offer uPVC windows that look so much like traditional timber windows they’re approved for use in conservation areas giving homeowners with older properties an alternative to secondary glazing. We’ve even had experienced architects have to look twice, even traditional style sash windows are now available in low maintenance PVC. It’s not just double glazing either we are now able to offer homeowners the option of triple glazed windows in almost any configuration, as the name suggests triple glazing involves placing a third pane of glass within the sealed unit. It’s fair to say that today’s windows are a lot better at preventing heat loss, reducing your energy bills and keeping your home warmer than the windows of the 1980s .
It’s not just windows either our doors have progressed massively too with the popularisation of bi-folding doors and advancements in technology meaning that architecturally stunning bi-folds and sliding patio doors are now, functional and affordable enough for the average homeowner.
Even the humble front door has come on leaps and bounds our most popular front doors today are our timber core composite doors. These doors are available in both ultra-modern and traditional designs and their build quality is only matched by their appearance. We can even provide keyless handles with wireless unlocking linked to your smartphone, very tomorrow's world, and popular with gadget lovers.
As well as advancements in our core products we have also launched several new and innovative products over the last 38 years one of the most exciting is our wide range of uPVC gates and fencing options, set to change the gates and fencing market in the same way early uPVC windows changed the window market decades ago, they offer a great looking, maintenance free and weather proof alternative to timber.
Our warm roof system is another relatively recent advancement, growing in popularity over the past 10 years or so adding real form, function and style to both existing and new conservatories, as well as looking great our warm roof system helps to improve the thermal efficiency of your conservatory helping to minimise your heating bills. The humble conservatory itself has come along way too over the past 4 decades with more glazed extensions available than ever before, we have always maintained the highest possible standard of work and compliance we the regular changes in building regulations.
Some things however haven’t changed too much since we were established in 1980, for example we are still committed to providing homeowners with best possible, products, service and after care. Employing traditional values alongside contemporary technology, we strive to strike the perfect balance between modern efficiency and old fashioned personal service and approachability.
This year we have teamed up with the East Anglia Air Ambulance (EAAA) to give back to a community we have been proud to be part of for the past 38 years, for every order we receive we will be donating to the EAAA. The EAAA do some fantastic work across our region and we are proud to be helping such heroes in any way we can. Find out more here.
2018 has already been a great year for us and we have helped countless homeowners to put their own stamp on their homes, we’ve employed a great new sales consultant and we’re on the lookout for more enthusiastic people to join our sales team.
We’re all excited to see how far our products will advance and what new products will be introduced to the market over the next 38 years, 2056 is likely to look very different to 2018 in the same way that 2018 looks very different to 1980, but THIS will still be at the forefront of the home improvements industry’s innovations whilst maintaining our outstanding customer service and traditional values.
